Wireless System Example
Inisys Technology Example Projects
A client had a clamp thermometer that required temperature
data to be recorded when soldering two copper pipes together in
the manufacturing of a boiler system. The use of a wired
solution to a data collection point was not practical so the
project required the use of wireless technology.
Battery life was an important parameter too, requiring the tool
to operate over a working week before re-charge. Data was
recorded into a database against the units serial number.
Providing this was also a requirement of the project.
A number of radio solutions were considered and eventually a
number of radio technologies were used. The data from the hand
tool was transmitted using a low power Zigbee module to a
permanently wired base station where it was collected and then
sent using WiFi to a PC. This data was then used by the
production department for product verification and data
analysis.
Using a Low power microcontroller and A/D a very satisfactory
battery life allowing the battery size to be even further
reduced in size.
